Sliding Scale Guidelines

What is a Sliding Scale?

Ritual work is community care work, and it should be available to all community members who desire to access it.

In order to achieve this, it feels imperative to acknowledge the varied levels of access to financial resources that exist in our culture. Those with more resource will need to be generous, and those with less will need to ask for support.

Please assess yourself and your financial situation with transparency and honesty.

To maintain this sliding scale in a sustainable way, it must be stressed that it is not appropriate for those with higher degrees of privilege, landowners, or folks who have abundant access to resources to pay lower tiers of the sliding scale, even if they are choosing to live more simply. This is about access. If you can access wealth, then you are in the Supporting role.

Thank you for using the sliding scale ethically. This is an act of love!

  • Supporting

(Payment at/near the TOP of the sliding scale options.)

This tier is for community members who have easy access to financial resources.

This tier supports those who need to utilize the Supported tier.

THIS TIER IS FOR YOU IF:

    • you can comfortably meet your basic needs through your employment OR choose not to work

    • you have access to financial security or savings (on your own or through your family)

    • you own property

    • you spend money on wants and wishes throughout the year

    • you partake in leisure activities such as plane travel, vacations, and multiple wellness or leisure classes

  • Balancing

(Payment at the CENTER of the sliding scale options.)

This tier is the price these services are valued at in our current societal structure, in the absence of a sliding scale.

This rate will pay fairly (but not generously) for the services rendered.

THIS TIER IS FOR YOU IF:

    • you can comfortably meet your basic needs through your employment

    • you spend money on a few wants and wishes throughout the year

    • you must budget carefully to afford any leisure activities.

  • Supported

(Payment at/near the BOTTOM of the sliding scale.)

This tier is for community members who do not have easy access to financial resources.

This tier is supported by those in the Supporting tier.

THIS TIER IS FOR YOU IF:

    • it is a struggle to maintain access to basic needs (ie. housing, food, healthcare, child care)

    • budgeting for these offerings means cutting into funds for housing, food, etc.

  • Reparations

(No payment, OR payment OUTSIDE of the sliding scale options.)

This tier is for Indigenous and Black community members who have experienced generational and systemic disadvantages in accessing resources.

THIS TIER IS FOR YOU IF:

    • you identify as BIPOC

    AND

    • the Supported tier does not meet your level of need
